Anybody notice that some people are simply obsessive and take at least one thing VERY seriously that most others wouldn't?

Sports, music, camp, money, religion, politics, the search for extra terrestial life?

Some are more 'appropriate' than others to general society, but those of us not as deluded (although hardly free from illusion entirely) see that there isn't any real difference other than an opinion.

Don't tell me there aren't children and adults alike who live by their sport of choice. Especially if it's "Pro-Wrestling"! Gonna lay the smackdown on you if you disapprove!!!

Talk to my old marching band instructor from when I was in high school. THAT is obsession.

Pass on the camp thing, I was just grasping for straws.

Money, money, money, makes the world go round, ne? Some people believe this to be true so much that it's really their unsaid philosophy. They'd put the lives of other people behind the importance of $$$.

Religion... Not even going to start, lest honest observations break out into mass-flaming. Even a statement like this is going to make people fume, despite mentioning nothing at all really, under suspicion that it MIGHT be their religion I'm referring to. Which is the kind of thing I mean. But moreso, there're murderers, and the like who do so in the name of their religion currently, or have done so in the past. Some might call that going a bit overboard.

Politics... Yeah, gonna stick to my stance above. Say so much as one bad thing about a person's politician and you might be called "liberal" or "conservative" without a thought to the actuality, and the label said with scorn. (Such as a liberal calling a liberal 'conservative' for not agreeing with every little thing a liberal representative does, and likewise for a conservative.) Friendships and even marriages can break up over a difference in a simple political view. (As the 2+ people engage in slippery slope fallacies, it suddenly makes it seem like the fate of the world is at stake.) And yes, people kill for their political views too, when other methods would be effective.

The truth is out there... I will not rest, not flip another burger, not take another shower until I find proof of aliens!!!!!!!!!11111111shift+1

There's nothing unique or unusual about getting obsessed with a video game. Not if you objectively consider all the things other people are doing at the same time, really...
